Unit One KS Flashcards
Testable Question
Questions that are able to be answered through experiments and observations in the natural world
Non-Testable Question
A question that can be changed based on the person, for examples “why” questions
Quantitative
measuring using numbers
Qualitative
measuring based on quality
Trials
a tryout or experiment to test quality, value, or usefulness
Observation
observing something or someone in order to gain information
Empirical evidence
information obtained through observation and documentation through an experiment
Data
information that can be used to determine a solution
Models in Science
a representation of a system of ideas, events or processes
Analogy
a comparison (or connection) made between scientific concepts
Prototype
a model constructed to include all the technical characteristics and performances of the new product; a trial model
Hypothesis
an assumption or idea that is proposed to see if it can be tested to be true
Variable
any factor, trait, or condition that can exist in differing amounts or types
Scientific Method
the process of answering a question by objectively establishing facts through testing and experimentation.
Procedure
a detailed, step-by-step list of everything you will do in your experiment, including the materials and methods you will use
Precision
how close measurements of the same item are to each other
Accuracy
how close a measurement is to the true or accepted value
Control
an element that remains unchanged or unaffected by other variables
