Big data
The process of collecting and analysing large amounts of data sets in order to identify trends and patterns that can be used in business decision-making.
Cloud computing
Is a virtual resource or online space that enables businesses to store, organise and retrieve data in safe and efficient ways.
Critical infrastructures
Refers to the essential physical structures and facilities needed for the effective functioning of a business.
Cybersecurity
Refers to the protection of computer systems and networks from unwarranted information disclosure, as well as theft or damage.
Data analytics
Is the process of transforming raw data into usable information for business.
Database
Is a computerised system that makes it easy to store, search and select data and information.
Digital Taylorism
Is a modern approach to scientific management, with the use of Management Information Systems to establish the best way to boost productivity in the workplace by managing staff and tasks in a methodical way.
The Internet of things
(IoT)
Refers to electronic devices that are able to connect to the internet and share, transfer and store data with other internet-enabled devices (or ‘things’).
Virtual reality (VR)
Is an artificial environment that is created with software and presented to the user in a near-reality way.
