13
Q

What happen after carbon dioxide is create in a blast furnace?

A

14
Q

What is the role of carbon monoxide in the blast furnace?

A

It acts as a reducing agent which reduces the iron oxide to iron

15
Q

What happens once the iron is extracted from iron oxide?

A

The molten iron is then poured off the bottom of the furnace

16
Q

What does the limestone do exactly in the blast furnace?

A

The limestone combines with impurities in the iron ore to produce slag. The slag is less dense than the molten iron so it floats on top from where it can be poured off
