Q
  1. What part does famine play in these first two chapters of Abraham? Why do you think God calls Abraham to leave his homeland? Why does God call his children away from their homes to strange lands or wilderness? Is there a pattern?
A
  • Famine plays a part in getting Abraham out of his homeland. His brother Haran dies there
    • Abraham leaves his homeland to get away from bad influences and create new associations
    • He calls His children to leave their homes to try our faith and to put us into new situations
    • The pattern is people leave their homes and undertake an arduous journey where their faith is strenghtened
