Moses 1:1-2
The word of God, which he spake unto Moses at a time when Moses was caught up into an exceedingly high mountain, and he saw God face to face, and he talked with him, and the glory of God was upon Moses; therefore Moses could endure his presence

Moses 1:4-6
And behold, thou are my son, wherefore look, and I will show thee the workmanship of mine hands; but not all, for my works are without end, and also my words, for they never cease.
Wherefore, no man can behold all my works, except he behold all my glory; and no man can behold all my glory, and afterwards remain in the flesh on the earth.
And I have a work for thee, Moses, my son; and thou art in the similitude of mine Only Begotten; and mine Olny Begotten is and shall be the Savior, for he is full of grace and truth; but there is no God beside me, and all things are present with me, for I know them all
Moses is a son of God
Moses receives his calling as a prophet

And it came to pass that it was for the space of many hours before Moses did again receive his natural strength like unto man; and he said unto himself: Now, for this cause I know that man in nothing, which thing I never had supposed
God sometimes leaves us to reflect on our spiritual experiences
Reveals Moses’ upbringing
Moses 1:13
And it came to pass that Moses looked upon Satan and said: Who art thou? For behold I am a son of God, in the similitude of his Only Begotten; and where is thy glory, that I should worship thee?
Moses could discern between God and Satan because Satan had no glory
Moses remembered that he was a son of God
Moses 1:25-26
And calling upon the name of God, he beheld his glory again, for it was upon him; and he heard a voice, saying: Blessed art thou, Moses, for I, the Almighty, have chosen thee, and thou shalt be made stronger than many waters; for they shall obey thy command as if thou wert God.
And lo, I am with thee, even unto the end of thy days; for thou shalt deliver my people from bondage, even Israel my chosen.
Moses is given his call to deliver Israel
After the 4th time calling, God returns to Moses
Moses is made stronger than many waters (predates the crossing of the Red Sea)
Moses 1:27-28
And it came to pass, as the voice was still speaking, Moses cast his eyes and beheld the earth, yea, even all of it; and there was not a particle of it which he did not behold, discerning it by the spirit of God
Moses saw the grand panoramic vision of the earth common to many prophets, it was his endowment experience
Moses 1:39
For behold, this is my work and my glory - to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man.
This is Gods purpose

Divine Investiture of Authority- Christ’s authority to speak in behalf of the Father to all of mankind
He is our Creator and our Father in the gospel (baptism)
What do we understand about God and time?
All things are present before God
What is the pattern of revelation we see in this encounter between Moses and God, Satan, and then God again? Do you see this pattern with other prophets? Have you felt it in your life? Why might God leave us on our own?

- Moses 1:12-22 What do we learn from Moses encounter with Satan? What did Satan call Moses? How can Moses distinguish between Satan and God? What did Satan want Moses to do? Why did Moses have to ask Satan to depart 4 times? How does Satan respond? Compare this to when Satan tried to tempt Jesus (Matt. 4). What does Elder Holland want us to learn from this story?
Satan called Moses “thou son of man”
Moses distinguished them because Satan had no glory, Moses could see him with his natural eyes
Satan wanted Moses to worship him
He eventually had to command him in the name of Christ
After his tantrum, he had to leave and obey the name of Christ
Do not draw back when temptations come after significant spiritual experiences
- Moses 1:24-26 What is Moses’ mission and what sign of strength does God bless him with?
Moses mission is to deliver the house of Israel out of bondage and lead them into the promised land
Signs of strength: rod/serpent, turning water into blood and healing the withered hand.
He is given strength over water
- Moses 1:27-38 What does Moses see in this second vision? Does God answer Moses’ questions? (vs.30) Why does God bless prophets with a panoramic vision? Moses 1:39 What are the implications of this verse?
Moses sees all the inhabitants of this eart
Yes he answers Moses question.
It is implied that the earths were created for the salvation of man
