Design methods and processes
What is iterative design?
A circular set of steps to solve a problem. Ex a designer may do an initial sketch, do additional research about the sketch of the product, then go back to sketching and repeat.
What is a user centred design (UCD)?
An approach to design that ensures your product will be easy to use. Designers who adopt then work to the principles set in the ISO 13407
What are the principles of the International usability standard ISO 13407?
- Design takes full account of users
- Users are involved throughout the design and development process
- The design is refined by user-centred evaluation

What is Immersion?
Immersion involves designers putting themselves into the environment or situation their customers are in
What are some primary investigation techniques?
- Interviewing
- Focus groups
- Market research (questionnaires and surveys)
- Analysing, disassembling existing products
- Observing customers using the product
What is anthropometric data?
The practice of taking measurements of the human body and providing categorised data that can be used by designers
