- most of world’s trade btwn richer countries
- rich countries & TNCs want to pay as little as possible for raw materials which usually come from LICs - keeps prices low
- some countries hv trade surpluses or deficits leading to ‘debt traps’
- fluctuating prices for raw materials (Copper in Zambia)

- Whereas in HICs over 70s account for 7/10 deaths and only 1/100 is a child under 15.
- In LICs infectious diseases are the main killer but in HICs its chronic diseases.

* by 2021 ~6.6M ppl had fled the country (25% of all refugees)
* in Lebanon, there are no formal refugee camps - +1M Syrians live in overcrowded temporary shelters.
