No, they’re well between attacks

Rectum
Is UC continuous or patchy?
Continuous
What is seen in the stool?
Blood that’s mixed with mucousy diarrhoea
Where is the pain?
Abdo pain

What is a complication of IBD?
toxic mega colon -> sepsis
How does this cause sepsis?
The enlargement of the colon means that it might pop and lead to faeces leaking out, leading to sepsis
What else can cause toxic mega colon?
C. diff leads to inflammatory colitis, TMC and sepsis

Aminosalicylates

Topical
Oral
What drugs are given to maintain remission?
Azathioprine
Methotrexate
