Synaesthesia
A rare condition in which certain sensations are perceived using another system.
Causes of Synaesthesia
A person can be born with synaesthesia or develop it and the condition can be inherited via their genes or acquire it due to injury or drug use
Spatial Neglect
A condition involving an inability to attend to sensory stimuli on one side of the body. It is damage to the right parietal lobe through stroke or injury. It results in the patient completely ignoring the left side of their world, even the left side of their body.
Spatial Neglect Effect on Perception
More prone to accidents, overlook dressing one side of their body, not eating part of a meal, may not be able to move one side of their body or deny it exists
Treatment for Spatial Neglect
Developing the person’s ability to attend to the neglected region and reroute neural connections
