Types of learning/conditioning Flashcards
What are the types of learning
-classical conditioning
-operant conditioning
-social learning theory
-repeated exposure
What is classical conditioning
is a passive form of learning which involves pairing a neutral stimulus with a unconditioned stimulus which has a unconditioned response. this then results in the stimulus becoming a conditioned which results in a conditioned response.
What is operant conditioning
is an active type of learning that involves negative and positive consequences
-there are reinforcements and punishments
-a negative consequence involves taking something away
-a positive consequence involves adding something
these consequences either aim to encourage behaviour and decrease the likelihood of it occurring again
What is the social learning theory
We often modify or adopt attitudes by observing other people, particularly people close to us and people who we respect and admire. This type of social learning is calledobservational learningormodelling. In social learning theory, the person being observed is referred to as amodel.
1. Attention
2. Retention
3. Motor reproduction
4. Motivation
What is Repeated exposure
Attitudes can form through repeated exposure by simply being exposed to an object, person, group, event or issue repeatedly. forming an attitude through repeated exposure also includes learning processes
What are the all terms in operant conditioning
NS-Neutral Stimulus
UCS- Unconditioned stimulus
UCR- unconditioned response
CS- conditioned stimulus
CR- Conditioned response
