What are the 6 types of joints?
Ball & socket, pivot joint, hinge joint, saddle joint, condyloid joint, and gliding joint
What are fibrous joints, and where are they found?
Collagen fibers from one bone penetrate the adjacent bone, anchoring the two bones in place. Found in the sutures of the cranium
Where are cartilaginous joints found?
Coastal joints, intervertebral, and pubic symphysis
What joint is the most common?
Synovial joint
What are the characteristics of a synovial joint?
Joint capsule Synovial membrane Joint cavity Synovial fluid Articular cartilage Ligaments
Which joint has the greatest ROM?
Humeroscapular joint (shoulder) *It's the humerus and scapula
What is the humeroulnar joint?
Elbow. Joins the humerus and ulna together.
What is the tibiofemoral joint?
Knee. Joins the tibia and femur.
What are the 3 planes of movement?
Mid-sagittal
Frontal (coronal)
Transverse
What are the 6 movements of the joints?
Flexion/extension Abduction/adduction Rotation: medial/lateral Side flexion Supination/pronation Circumduction
