What are GOALS
Goals can be categorized into four main groups namely:
Time based goals
Performance based goals
Quantitative vs. Qualitative goals
Outcome vs. Process oriented goals
Time based goals
These are objections that are set over a period of time. They can be short or long term. And usually, short term goals are long term goals that have been broken down into smaller tasks
Performance based goals
These are short term goals/ objectives. Set of certain duties and tasks. These goals are clearly defined and measurable.
(Increase the no. of cold calls from 10 to 25).
Quantitative
Quantitative goals can be measured, hence the goal that salespeople set can be verified.
(If the target was 10 sales calls per day it can be measured).
vs. Qualitative goals
These are goals that are not easy to measure, as they are complex to verify.
(It’s not easy to measure to people experienced the salespersons benefits of the product).
Outcome orientated goal vs. Process orientated goals
Outcome orientated goal focuses on the goal to be achieved (to complete sales training), while process orientated goals are more concerned about the process that leads to the desired outcome if they are followed repeatedly (Doing weekly test on new products over period of time until training is over).
