what are airway life threatening issues

A

swelling- hematoma (bad bruising)
bleeding (nashophargngeal blood causing aspiration risk)
crepitus (suggest direct larangeal or tracheal injury)

high c-spine injuries can impair respiratory drive
burns- thermal injury causes airway edema and inhalation can cause hypoxia
