what does crepitus sound like
crackling. crunching nose that is accompanied flexing of the joint
what is bad bruising called
hematoma
what are airway life threatening issues
swelling- hematoma (bad bruising)
bleeding (nashophargngeal blood causing aspiration risk)
crepitus (suggest direct larangeal or tracheal injury)
high c-spine injuries can impair respiratory drive
burns- thermal injury causes airway edema and inhalation can cause hypoxia
why might a patient not be able to move air to breath
spinal cord injury
traumatic brain injury
injury to diaphragm or ribs
who are more at risk of an airway compromise
Glasgow coma scale bellow 9
facial truma (particularly with active bleeding)
larangeal trauma (such as a hanging victim)
