What are the steps involved when the fight or flight is activated? ( HPA)

A

Hypothalamus releases CRF (corticotropin releasing factor) –> Actives Pituritary Gland and it releases ACTH (adrenocorticotropic hormone) –> Activates Adrenal Gland and it releases Cortisol and then it goes to bloodstream

What is the negative feedback loop with a flight or flight response?

A

The cortisol released by the adrenal gland will inhibit the production of CRF and ACTH from anterior pituitary glands which esentially serves to auto-shut down this whole physiological cascade.

What is the difference between trauma informed care and trauma specific care?

A

Trauma specific care –> Done by a practitioners with specialized training that does specific specialized interventions that directly target psychological trauma.

Trauma informed care –> Can be done with anyone, it is a way of interacting with people based on principles for minimizing the risk of triggering any possible underlying psychological trauma.
