Q

What is the biopsychosocial model of pain?

A
  • This refers to the perspective that there not just biological causes (illness, injury, or structuropathoanatomical) underlying someone’s pain.
  • There are many other factors which may be causing someone’s pain.
  • Therefore, the biopsychosocial model essentially incorporates the biomedical model (by taking into account biological factors)… But is even more comprehensive and includes other factors (psychological, social).
