Adjustment Disorder
A
-the disturbance begins within 3 months of onset of a stressor and lasts no longer than 6 months after the stressor or its consequences have ceased

Reactive Attachment Disorder
A
- onset at the age of 9 months to 5 years old(caution in using this over the age of 5)
- parents may not notice their child has this disorder because they are the factor cause the child gets this
- caused by social neglect
- characterized by INTERNALIZING behaviors

Disinhibited Social Engagement Disorder
A
- onset usually happens around preschool age
- they are the ones who run up to you—no issues with strangers in room
- social neglect
- overly familiar with people both physically and verbally
- characterized by EXTERNALIZING behaviors

Posttraumatic Stress Disorder
A
- what it looks like in children is very different
- PTSD in child for under age of 6
- more than a month
- expression has to be ONE FOR EACH CATEGORIES
- often blame themselves

Acute Stress Disorder
A
- exposure to actual or threatened death
- within 3 days to one month
- expression(NINE OF ANY FORMS)
- Intrusion symptoms
1. recurrent memories of the traumatic events
2. recurrent distressing dreams related to the events
3. dissociated reactions
4. intense or prolonged psychological distress - Negative mood
5. persistent inability to experience positive emotions - Dissociated symptoms
6. an altered sense of the reality of one’s surroundings
7. inability to remember an important aspect of the traumatic events - Avoidance symptoms
8. efforts to avoid distressing memories, thoughts, or feelings
9. efforts to avoid external reminders - Arousal symptoms
10. sleep disturbance
11. irritable behavior and angry outbursts
12. hypervigilance
13. problems with concentration
14. exaggerated startle reponse
