A
  • difficulty in managing their behaviors and affect
  • their inability to prevent things from happening
  • for these disorders you can either have a behavioral impulse issue or an affect issue that manifests itself in a behavior way
  • if they have explosive anger and it comes out in a violent way then the root is the affect
  • there is a complete disregard of what you’re entitled to and they can care less about what you’re entitled to
  • direct violation or conflict with authority figures or parents
  • it is a self-regulation issue
  • most common in men(the manifestation at what society deems as appropriate)

Oppositional Defiant Disorder

A
  • a lot of anger and irritation that cannot be equally explained
  • lasting at least 6 months by having four of the symptoms in any of the categories
  • Angry/Irritable mood
    1. often loses temper
    2. is often touchy or easily annoyed
    3. is often angry and resentful(怨恨的)
  • Argumentative/Defiant Behavior
    4. often argues with authority figures
    5. often actively defies or refuses to comply with request
    6. often deliberately annoys other
    7. often blames others for his/her mistakes
  • Vindictiveness(懷恨的)
    8. has been spiteful(懷恨的) or vindictive at least twice within the past 6 months
  • age over five must have symptoms at least once a week

Intermittent Explosive Disorder

A
  • this is purely affective piece
  • recurrent failure to manage aggressive and angry outbursts
  • cannot manage behavior BECAUSE of affect
  • physical aggression towards property, people or animals
  • emotional outburst and from that outburst they are harming other people or things
  • cannot be given to people under the age of 6
  • if they are going through some sort of adjustment period then don’t diagnose with this disorder
  • magnitude of the aggression is disproportionate to the situation that prompted it
  • they did not plan on having the outbursts

Conduct Disorder

A
  • focused on just behavior
  • just the impulse and reaction of just doing something
  • must have THREE criteria for the following 12 months and ONE for the last 6 months
  • Aggression to people and animals
    1. often bullies, threatens, or intimidates(脅迫) others
    2. often initiates physical fights
    3. has used a weapon that can cause serious physical harm to others
    4. has been physically cruel to people
    5. has been physically cruel to animals
    6. has stolen while confronting a victim
    7. has forced someone into sexual activity
  • Destruction of property
    8. has deliberately engaged in fire setting with the intention of causing serious damage
    9. has deliberately destroyed other’s property
  • Deceitfulness(欺詐的) or theft
    10. has broken into someone else’s house, building, or car
    11. often lies to obtain goods or favors or to avoid obligations
    12. has stolen items of nontrivial value without confronting a victim
  • Serious violations of rules
    13. often stays out at night despite parental prohibitions, beginning before 13 years old
    14. has run away from home overnight at least twice while living in the parental or parental surrogate home, or once without returning for a lengthy period
    15. is often truant from school, beginning before 13 years old
