Transmission Lubrication Flashcards
What type of oil system does the transmission have?
Pressurized wet sump
What is the purpose of the XMSN Lubrication system?
Provides cooled, filtered oil to the bearings and gears through internally cored oil lines with exception of the lines in and out of the oil cooler
What are the components?
Sump, filter, temp, pressure, and chip sensors
Can you fly with an extended XMSN PDI?
Yes.
Extended PDI is indication of maintenance is required after the last flight of the day and is not and indication of a malfunction
Does the filter PDI have a thermal lockout?
Yes
How does the oil cooler provide cooling?
It uses a blower that is connected to the rotor drive shaft
When does the MAIN XMSN PRESS LOW caution illuminate?
below 14 psi
Where is the oil pressure sensor located and why?
1 Accessory Module because it is the farthest point from the pumps
When does the MAIN XMSN OIL HOT caution appear?
above 117 C
Where is the oil temperature sensor located and why?
at the input of the MGB because it is the first point directly after the oil cooler
How many chip detectors in the MGB?
5 (MAIN XMSN, #1/#2 INPUT CHIP, #1/#2 ACCESSORY CHIP)
What is the chip burnoff feature and when does it deacivate?
it eliminate false alarms and deactivates at 140 C
What is different about the main module chip detector?
it has a 30 second delay for extra false warning elimination
What type of detectors are in the IGB/TGB?
identical chip/temperature sensors
When do the TAIL/INT XMSN OIL HOT cautions appear?
at 140 C
