Transfusion reaction Flashcards
what are the two tranfusion reactions
acute ( within 24 hrs) and delayed ( after 24 hrs)
further breakdown of acute tranfsusion and delayed transfusion
those with or without fever
when does acute hemolytic transfusion reaction occur
incompatible RBSs or large amounts of incompatible plasma is transfused
what happneds to the urine in acute hemo. trans.
urine turns pink, red or wine-colored
which reaction has no hemolysis
Febrile non- hemolytic
what is one of the top causes of transfusion-related fatality in US
TRALI
What is TRALI
acute lung injury within 6. hours
immune pathway of TRALI
anti-hla antibodies attack recipient WBCs
ab- wbc deposit in and damage pulmonary vasculature
non-immune patho of TRALI
1st event- pre transfusion activated lung endothelias
2nd- transfusion of stored blood product
Combination of TRALI causes
capillary damage and pulmonary edema
mechanism of hypersensivity reactions
Type 1 ( IgE mediated) hypersensitivity to donor plasma
severe allergic reaction due to
IgA deficient recipient
circulatory overload is
not immune process and usually afebrile ( no fever)
what causes TACO ( transfusion circulatory reaction)
transfusing to fast
delayed hemolytic transfusion is typically
anamnestic response
