Training Management Test Flashcards
What is a training concept?
A training concept is a document which outlines a training/mission idea and contains all the information necessary to plan and conduct the training/mission.
CONUS and OCONUS
What are the 6 steps in the training concept process?
DDC-CSC
- Determine training desired
- Determine if written concept is required
- Conduct research
- Complete written document
- Submit for review/approval
- Continue to refine concept
What is DTA?
Direct Training Affiliation establishes dedicated, year round training relationships between AC and ARNG units. Mutually beneficial training alignment facilitates the needs of both to meet mission and training requirements. S3 coordination does not constitute approval.
What is CTG?
Command training guidance identifies training requirements based on the Commander’s Assessment and includes the training strategy. The training strategy provides a common focus and direction for the unit’s Training Program.
What are the 9 Principles of Training?
CNT-TTT-STF
- Commanders are the primary trainers
- NCOs train individuals, crews, and small teams. Advise commanders.
- Train using multi-echelon techniques to maximize time and resource efficiency.
- Train as a combined arms team
- Train to standard using appropriate doctrine
- Train as you fight
- Sustain levels of training proficiency over time
- Train to maintain
- Fight to train
What is the role of the commander in training?
BEDPEE
- Be present and actively engaged
- Ensure training is conducted to standard (T&EOs)
- Demonstrate tactical and technical proficiency
- Protect training by eliminating distractors
- Effectively manage risk
- Ensure training is led by trained and certified officers and NCOS
What is collective training?
Training either in institutions or units that prepares cohesive teams and units to accomplish their missions in decisive actions.
What is multi-echelon training?
Multi-echelon training is a training technique that allows for the simultaneous training of more than one echelon on different or complementary tasks.
What is individual training?
An individual task that is a clearly defined, observable, and measurable activity accomplished by an individual.
What are the three training domains?
Institutional
Operational
Self-Development
What is a MET?
A mission-essential task (MET) is a collective task on which an organization trains, to be proficient in its designed capabilities or assigned mission.
What is a METL?
A mission-essential task list (METL) is a tailored group of mission essential tasks.
What is a battle task?
A battle task is a platoon or lower echelon collective task that is crucial to the successful accomplishment of a Company, Battalion, or Group mission essential task.
What are war plans in battle task development?
Wartime Missions
OPLANS
CONPLANS
What are the external directives in battle task development?
Higher CDRs guidance
Training requirements
Higher echelon METL/AMETL
How are battle tasks developed?
War Plans + External Directives = Analysis = ODB METL = Battle Tasks List
What are the 5 operational environment factors?
Static - fixed variables Dynamic - change in response to FF actions Complex - min 4 variables Single Threat - CF, IF, Crim, or Terr Hybrid Threat - Combined/unified threats
What are the four phases of BFA?
MUPA
- Mission Analysis and METL Development
- Unit Training Plan Development
- POI/Mission Profile Updated
- Area Study
What is a CONPLAN?
An operation plan in concept form, often lacking the levels of details normally found in other military plans.
What are the 14 paragraphs for a Training Concept Letter?
RMT-MTTC-BRA-ESQP

What is an OPLAN?
A complete and detailed plan for conducting joint military operations. Developed by the GCC in response to actual or potential threats for which operations may be required. Executed following an OPORD (GCC) or EXORD (CJCS).
Define “T”
- Fully trained. Complete task proficiency
