Training methods
On the job: Mentoring, Job rotation, work assignments, coaching, apprenticeship, internships. (My job was a cool apprenticeship indeed.)
Off-the job: Classroom lecture, media-based instruction, case method, programmed instruction, simulation, role-playing, conference/group discussion.
Transfer of training
Extent to which a trainee exhibits knowledge, skills, or attitudes learned in training afterwards on the job.
