What is a trivial accident?

A

A rta where there is no injury to persons but the damage to vehicles and property is minimal and there is no serious breach of traffic laws (S0 44:30)

A

collison on a road which results in injury to persons and/or animals or serious damage to property (SO 44:28)

what are the duties of a police officer at a RTA under S.O. 44 Sec. 36(a)

A

obtain:
a) * the name(s) and address of the person(s) involved in the accident.
*registration # of the vehicles
* the particulars of the driver(s)’ driving permit(s) and the certificate(s) of insurance of the vehicle
*date, time and location of the accident.
* the names and addresses of witnesses.
*name(s) and address(es) of injured persons and the type of injuries sustained
* whereabouts of injured person(s)
* damage to vehicle(s) and/or property.
*circumstances surrounding the cause of the accident.

A

obtain:
b) where necessary dispatch injured person(s) to a government medical institution for attention.

c) warn driver(s) of “intended prosecution” according to law.

d) in the case of the officer away from the station:
i) record the information from paragraph (a) in his pocket diary
ii) mark the point of impact and positions of vehicle(s)
iii) cause the vehicles to be removed from roadway, in order to avoid unnecessary obstruction:
