Define pyramidal tracts
A
Originate from cerebral cortex
Carry motor fibres to brain stem and spinal cord
Responsible for voluntary control of the body and face

A
Originate in the brain stem, carry motor fibres to the spinal cord
Responsible for involuntary and autonomic control of all muscles
E.g muscle tone, posture, balance and locomotion.

A
The descending tracts of the CNS are the pathways by which the motor signal is sent from the brain to the lower motor neurones.
