Q

if DNA WAS able to leave the nucleus (It cant cuz its too fat) what would happen

A

it would just get eaten by the enzymes. hence destroying the genetic code.
broken down

Q

mRNA is short lived, how does this affect mRNA in carrying out its function?

A

it doesnt affect mRNA whatsoever.
It is only needed temporarily to help create a protein, by the time the enzymes could break it down it would have already carried out its function.

Q

mRNA is short stranded, how is this an advantage?

A

DNA Is too large to leave the nucleus.
mRNA is smaller since its only the length of 1 gene. so it can leave the nucleus.

Q

How does RNA differ to DNA?
(Structure)

A

RNA has Uracil instead of Thymine
RNA is single stranded with short pp chain. whereas DNA double stranded with long pp chain.

Q

What is mRNA?
Where is it made?
Function?

A

mRNA is a copy of a gene from DNA
It is formed in the Nucleus
It leaves the Nucleus to carry the code of 1 gene to a ribosome (which is in the cytoplasm)

Q

Function of RNA?

A

The function of RNA is to transfer the genetic code found in DNA out of the nucleus and carry it to the ribosomes in the cytoplasm.

to create proteins

Q

Difference between DNA and RNA Polymers

A

DNA longer, cuz it contains the entire fucking genome
RNA shorter cuz only length of 1 gene.

Q

Function of tRNA?

A

function is to attach to 1 of the 20 different amino acids and transfer the amino acid to the ribosome to create the polypeptide chain.

They have an anticodon which is complementary to a codon on mRNA
this is the amino acid binding site
