Helots
inhabitants of villages nearby Sparta; granted local autonomy, obligated to military service, no public office
Perioikoi
dining group where a group of fifteen youths ate together and each member contributed a fixed portion of food and drink to the communal meal.

Alongside the council (boule, Gerousia in Sparta) as one of the two primary elements of Greek governance; adult male Spartans (homoioi), vote on bills
