Topic 11: Atomic Structure Flashcards
Relative mass of Proton Neutron and Electron?
Proton = 1 Neutron = 1 Electron = 1/2000
Charge of Proton Neutron and Electron?
Proton = +1 Neutron = 0 Electron = -1
What is the Mass Number?
This is normally displayed at the top of the element and is the total number of protons and neutrons.
What is the Atomic Number?
This is normally displayed at the bottom of the element and is the number of protons (the amount of positive charge).
How to get the number of neutrons?
Just subtract the atomic number from the mass number.
Number of electrons =
Number of protons.
What is the relative atomic mass?
The relative atomic mass is a measure of the mass of one atom of the element.
What is a isotope?
Different atomic forms of the same element, which have the same number of protons but a different number of neutrons.
Draw electronic configuration of nitrogen,
group = 5
period = 2
electrons = 5 in 2 shells.
name of the gas that makes up 0.96% of the air?
Argon.
