Topic 10: The periodic Table Flashcards
What is the top number on the element of the periodic table?
This is the Relative atomic mass.
What is the bottom number on the element of the periodic table?
This is the atomic number.
Where on the periodic table are the reactive metals?
Groups 1 and 2.
Where on the periodic table are the transitions elements?
Periods 4-7 between Group 3 and .
Where are the poor metals?
To the left of the line that separates metals and non-metals, not including transition elements.
Where is the line that separates metals and non-metals.
Starts at the top left corner of group 3 and goes down like steps towards group 0.
Where are the non-metals?
To the right of the seperates metals and non-metals line. Not group 0.
Where are the noble gasses?
Group 0.
Elements in a Group have?
The same number of Outer electrons which is why they have similar properties.
How are elements arranged in the periodic table?
Increasing atomic Number.
The group to which an element belongs corresponds to?
The number of outer electrons it has in its outer shell. For example group 1 elements have 1 electron in there outer shell.
Group 1 elements are also called the?
Alkali Metals.
Group 7 elements are also called the?
Halogens.
Group 0 elements are also called the?
Noble Gasses.
Elements in the same Period have
The same number of electron shells.
