Describe time-out. Why is it a negative punishment?

A

Time-out is when you are set aside, either in solitude or still in context, removed from all available positive reinforcers. Negative because access to all SRs removed.

What is non-exclusionary TO? What is exclusionary TO? Examples-

A

Non-exclusionary TO is when you are not removed from room/situation which you were in, just set aside. Exclusionary is when you are removed form context, taken out of room, etc. Non eg: “Sit and Watch.”

Describe how the effectiveness of TO is related to the function of the problem bx and the nature of the problem behavior.

A

TO is only effective if the PB is positively reinforced. TO will not be an effective punisher for negatively & automatically reinforced bxs.

Describe response cost. Explain what makes response cost a negative punishment procedure.

A

Removal of a specified AMOUNT of reinforcer contingent on the occurrence of PB. Negative punishment when it result in a decrease in the future probability of the PB.

A

Ext- Removal of a reinforcer that previously maintained bx.

TO- Removal of access to ALL reinforcers

RC- Removal of a specified AMOUNT of one reinforcer.
