10/22 - Antecedent Interventions Flashcards
Chapter 16 (Antecedent Control Procedures)
In general terms, what are antecedent control procedures?
Are antecedent stimuli that are manipulated to evoke desirable behaviors.
What is the goal of antecedent procedures with regard to the occurrence of undesirable competing behaviors?
Removing the SD or Cues for the undesirable bx-
Removing the antecedent conditions that have stimulus control over the behavior will likely decrease occurrence of bx.
Identify the three antecedent control strategies that can be used to evoke a desirable behavior.
- Presenting SD or Cue for desired bx.
- Arrange EO for the desired bx. EO that makes reinforcer more desirable - running, the EO, makes water more desirable.
- Decreasing Response Effort for desirable bx.
Identify the three antecedent control strategies that can be used to decrease the likelihood of undesirable competing behaviors.
- Removing the SD or Cue for undesirable bx.
- Presenting AO for undesirable bx. Make SR for undesirable bx less reinforcing.
- Increasing the Response Effort for undesirable bx.
Define Abolishing Operation. Example-
Process of making a bx less reinforcing. Eating (AO) before going to the grocery store (SR).
Example of EO-
Desirable behavior being eating healthy- buying a healthy cookbook.
