What is a platelet?
Small fragments of cytoplasm that clump together to clot blood and stop bleeds.
What is a pulmonary artery?
A vessel carrying blood from the heart to the lungs.

A vessel carrying blood from the lungs to the heart.

A small hole in the leaf of a plant.

The top part of the body, including the lungs, chest, arms, and head.

A group of similar cells with similar function.
What is tissue culture in plants?
A method of cloning plants, where plant cells are put on growth medium containing hormones and allowed to grow into new plants.
What is translocation in plants?
The movement of dissolved sugars in a plant.
What is the transpiration system?
The movement of water from plant roots, through xylem tubes around the plant.
What is a valve in the circulatory system?
A small ‘gate’ in the heart and veins that allows blood to flow only one way.

A blood vessel carrying blood from the body to the heart, under lower pressure.

A blood vessel entering the heart from the body.

The lower chamber in the heart, which acts as a higher pressure pump.

A digestive enzyme that catalyses the breakdown of starch into sugars, found in the mouth and small intestine.
