Tissues Flashcards
Glandular tissue
Contains secretory cells that can produce and release substances such as enzymes and hormones
In stomach, to produce digestive juices
Epithelial tissue
Covers some parts of the body outside and the organs also
Covers the outside and inside of the stomach
Digestive system includes
Glands to produce digestive juices
Stomach and s intestine where digestion occurs
Liver which produces bile
S intestine absorption of soluble food occurs
L intestine where water is absorbed from the undigested food producing faeces
Epidermal tissue P
Covers the surface and protects
Palisade mesophyll P
Contains chloroplasts for photosynthesis
Spongy mesophyll P
Has some chloroplasts but also air spaces and L surface area to make gas diffusion easier
Xylem
On the inside (top in cross section)
Water
Transports water and dissolved mineral ions from the roots up the leaves and dissolved food from the leaves around the plant
Phloem P
Outside (or under in cross section)
Products of photosynthesis
Transports water and dissolved mineral ions from the roots up the leaves and dissolved food from the leaves around the plant
Muscular tissue
Contract to bring about movement
In the stomach, allow contents to move through digestive system
