Malaria parasite is a
Single felled organism
Mosquitos… (What do they do)
Pass on parasite ad they bite into animals to feed on their blood
Malaria parasite life cycle anagram
Gametocytes
Sporozoites
Merozoites
Schizonts
Get some meaty sausages
Parasite life cycle detailed
- Mosquito bites infected patient and takes up Gametocytes
These reproduce sexually inside mosquito
In salivary glands they change to sporozoites - Mosquito bites another animal, sporozoites transferred into blood stream and travel to liver
Enter liver cells and reproduce asexually to produce merozoites - Released into blood from liver cells where they invade red blood cells
Then.. Either
A) enter sexual phase of reproduction resulting in Gametocytes to begin cycle again once rebitten
Or…
B) grow and nucleus then divides asexually to produce a cell with many nuclei called a schizont - The schizont divides to produce many merozoites
Red blood cells burst releasing mereozoites- toxins released to in waves fever attacks
Cycle repeated

Environmental changes caused by which factors
No or type of competitor
Temperatures
Availability of nutrients
Amount of light
Change in average rainfall
Availability of carbon dioxide and oxygen
Availability of nesting sites, shelters and habitats
Population sizes increase
More prey
More survivors
More reproduction
Population size decreases
Pesticides- bees
Less food- nectar rich plants
More disease-bees (pathogens or parasites)
Population distribution changes
Bird species
Average temp changes European bee water from Mediterranean to Germany
Living indicators
Lichen
Sulfur dioxide concentration
More when air is clean
Mayfly larvae
Oxygen conc in water
Clean water has them in it
Rat tailed maggots/ sludge worms
High level of water pollution
