Tissues Flashcards
Define epithelial, connective, muscular tissue and nervous tissue
Epithelium: is a covering and lining tissue an example of this is the skin it also is the inner and outer layer of our organs. They are closely joined together they vary in shape from thin to flat to column shaped and cubed.
Connective tissue: provides support foe the body and holds all the body parts together there separated from each other by large amounts of material and are made up off a matrix
Muscular tissues: they are long and and thin and can contract become shorter there are 3 different kinds of muscular tissue smooth cardiac and skeletal.
Nervous tissue: mad up of specialised nerves called neurons. They have long projections from the body off the cell when part of the nueron is stimulated messages can be carried along these projections it is found in the brain spinal cord and nerves
What is the difference between smooth skeletal and cardiac muscles.
Skeletal: found attached to the bones we have voluntary control over this muscle so that we can move parts of our body when necessary. They are made out of fibres that are seen as stripes. Thes are found in your arms or legs
Smooth: does not have any straions meaning that it is non straiend its found in the stomach and intestines and in walls off blood vessels we cannot contact these muscles making them involuntary one nucleus
Cardiac muscle: cardiac muscle makes up most of the heart the heart muscle contracts it pumps blood heart muscle cannot be voluntarily controlled making it involuntary.
