Tissue Flashcards
What are the four different types of tissue?
Epithelial Muscle Nervous Connective
“Cell, cell, cell, cell, cell” is what kind of tissue?
Epithelial
What are the 6 kinds of epithelial tissue
Simple squamous Simple cuboid Simple columnar Stratified squamous Pseudo-stratified columnar Transitional epithelium
“Simple”
One layer
“Stratified”
Multiple layers
_________: one cell layer thick often found in lining
Simple squamous epithelium
_______: one cell layer thick and cube shaped
Simple cuboidal epithelium
Which kind of epithelium cell has cilia (typically)?
Pseudo-stratified columnar epithelium
What are the three Q to ask yourself when trying to differentiate muscle tissue? What is the inference from these Qs?
- Is it striated? (If no, it is smooth muscle) 2. Does it have evenly colored striations? (If no, it is cardiac) 3. is the nucleus on the outside of the muscle fiber? (If yes, confirms skeletal)
What are the 3 types fo muscle tissue?
Skeletal Cardiac Smooth
What are the three types of fibers that can be found in connective tissue?
- Collagen 2. Elastic 3. Reticular
What is the main difference between loose and dense connective tissue w/ regard to its make up?
loose has both elastic and collagen fiber Dense only has collagen fibers
What is the cell of connective tissue called?
Fibroblast
What are fat cells called? What kind of tissue are they found in?
Adipocytes, found in adipose
Where is hyaline cartilage found?
In between bones
Do loose and dense connective have lacuna?
No
What is a cartilage cell called?
Chondrocyte
Where is fibrocartilage found?
In between vertebrae
What are the three types of cartilage
Hyaline Fibro Elastic
What kind of fibers are found in fibrocartilage?
Collagen
What types of fibers are found in elastic cartilage?
Elastic
Lamellae
A ring of the tree like organized matrices in bone
What is the large dark circle like shape in the middle of a compact bone?
Central canal
________: a specialized connective tissue that lines the inner surface of capsules of synovial joints and tendon sheaths
Synovial membrane
“Skin membrane”
Cutaneous membrane
“Synovial joint membrane”
Synovial membrane
