pros - cheap and easy.
cons - not applicable to every day life and function
why would you do the timed single leg balance test?
people with balance issues - e.g. night time walking, Hx of falls
what is step one of the test?
eyes open, place both arms across chest so hands are on shoulders. look straight ahead - eyes fixed on point 3ft away. Stand on one leg - don’t let legs touch. hold. repeat on the other side
when does the time start/stop?
starts when they lift their foot off the floor. stops when: - leg touch - foot changes position on the floor - lifted leg hits the floor - after 60 seconds
what is step two of the test?
repeat the same test as before with eyes closed

plinth either side of patient

physio close to patient
