a test to measure the maximum airflow out of the lungs after full inhalation

what are the pros and cons of PEFR?
pros = cheap and comparable data cons = value dependant on if sitting or standing, depends on the quality of the verbal instruction
how to describe to the patient what the test is for?
a test to show how quickly you can blow air out of the lungs - to give an idea of how well the lungs are working - if your airways are narrowed.
What are the instructions for PEFR?
patient standing, marker set to 0, breathe in as deeply as you can and seal mouth around the mouthpiece. I then want you to breathe out as quickly and as hard as you can.
How many times to take the test?
perform 3 times and take highest score
