how to describe to the patient what the test is for?

A

a test to show how quickly you can blow air out of the lungs - to give an idea of how well the lungs are working - if your airways are narrowed.

What are the instructions for PEFR?

A

patient standing, marker set to 0, breathe in as deeply as you can and seal mouth around the mouthpiece. I then want you to breathe out as quickly and as hard as you can.
