what is the pomodoro technique?
The Pomodoro Technique is a time management method in which you do focused work during 25-minute intervals — known as pomodoros — and take a five-minute break
what are examples of things that can lead to poor time management in a working day?
-talking too much
-tiredness
-phone etc
-patient unpredictability
what are 3 steps for time management?
-set aside time for planning and establishing priorities
-complete highest priority task whenever possible- finish one task before beginning another
-re-prioritise tasks to be accomplished based on new information received
how do we plan?
-make a to do list NB it should not be too long, hourly timetable
-weekly planning list - do at end of previous week
-set goals SMART
-decide priorities eg in hospital situation

-useful tool for considering how time is spent
-what is important as opposed to urgent ?
-must deal the quadrant 1, minimise time spend in quadrant III and IV and focus on quadrant II
what is procrastination?
the action of delaying or postponing something
why do we procrastinate?
-rebellion and laziness
-lack of motivation
-fear of the outcome
-helplessness
-lack of focus and fatigue
how can you deal with fear of the outcome?
ask yourself, what is the worse that can happen?
