Thorax 3 Flashcards
what does the arch of aorta branch off into?
-brachiocephalic trunk
-left common carotid
-left subclavian artery
where is heart lcoated
in the middle mediastinum
what is the pericardium
fibroserious sac surrounding heart and its great vessels
what does the pericardium consist of?
fibrous and serous layers
serous layer has two parts. What are they?
parietal-lines fibrous
visceral- adheres to heart
what view can the left atrium (tf pulmonary veins) be seen
posteriorly
common carotid arteries supply?
the head and neck
subclavian arteries supply?
upper limbs
describe the formation of the superior vena cava
left internal jugular vein and left subclavian vein joins up to form the left brachiocephalic vein which crosses to the rigth side of the chest and joints with right brachiocephallic vein to form the SVC
describe structure of the mitral valve
-the valve has an anterior cusp and a posterior cusp
-chordae tendineae anchor cups to wall of ventricles by papillary muscles
describe structure of the tricuspid valve
has 3 cusps (anterior, septal, posterior)
-> same as mitral->chordae tendineae anchor cups to wall of ventricles by papillary muscles
name the coronary arteries
-right coronary artery
-left coronary artery
what does the left coronary artery divide into?
-circumflex, left marginal branch of circumflex, posterior interventricular branch of circumflex branch
-anterior interventricular branch, diagonal branch of anterior interventricular branch
-sinu-artrial nodal branch
right coronary artery divisions
-marginal branch of right coronary artery
what veins drain into coronary sinus to go to right atrium?
small, middle, great, posterior cardiac veins
