Thoracic Spine Assessment Flashcards
1
Q
Thoracic spine Tests:
A
1) Slump test
2) Rotation of T-spine VS latissimus restriction
3) PACVP
4) PAUVP
5) TVP
6) Rib Springing
2
Q
What is Slump test used for
A
Differentiating nerve tension or muscle tension
3
Q
Slump test
A
- hold patient head
- left leg (+)= mm tension or nerve tension
- flex foot (+)= mm tension or nerve tension
- left head (+)= nerve tension
4
Q
Rotation of T-spine VS latissimus restriction
A
- hold patients hips or have them seated
- T-spine= cross arms in front of chest
- latissimus= arms straight out
5
Q
What does PACVP stand for
A
Posterior anterior central vertebral pressure
6
Q
What is PACVP used for
A
- Narrows down location of problem
- Look for prominent/tender/tight vertebrae
7
Q
What does PAUVP stand for
A
Posterior anterior unilateral vertebral pressure
8
Q
What is PAUVP used for
A
- Narrows down location of problem
- look for tight/tender vertebrae
9
Q
What does TVP Stand for?
A
Transverse vertebral pressure
10
Q
What is TVP used for
A
- Location of problem
- look for vertebrae that have transverse processes that are off-center
- possible mm imbalance
11
Q
What is rib springing
A
- used for relieving pressure of fixed costovertebral joints
- push on exhale
- butterfly technique= one quick push at end of exhale/end feel to crack
