Thermoregulatuon Flashcards
Hyperthermia
Abnormally high body temperature
Hypothermia
Too low body temperature
How does our body knows it needs to be thermoregulated
Thermoreceptors In hypothalamus. Sense temp too low or too high
Sends signals to muscles organs glands and nervous system
Normal body temp
37 degrees
How does the body deal with change in body temperature
Shivering- muscle twitches to warm up
Sweating- open pores, sweat evaporates and cools
Vasoconstriction- closes blood vessels, decreases blood flow
Vasodilation- open blood vessels increases blood flow
What are the effects of heat in the cardiovascular system
Cardiovascular drift- when HR increases but SV decreases.
Heat inc heart rate and so makes it happen sooner as hit anaerobic threshold earlier
Effect of heat on the respiratory system
Sweat more suffer from dehydration
Breathe deeper and faster
Hit anaerobic threshold earlier
