Therapeutic Use: treatment of herpes and varicella virus infections, including genital herpes, chickenpox, shingles, Epstein-Barr virus infections, and cytomegalovirus infections.
Mechanism of Action: Inhibits viral replication
Anti-Herpes Medication (Acyclovir)
Therapeutic Use: Reduces duration of flu symptoms. Must start within 48 hours of symptom onset. May be used prophylactic in persons who know they have been exposed to the flu.
Mechanism of Action: Antiviral specific to the flu
Anti-Influenza
Therapeutic Use: Control the HIV infection in patients who are HIV+. Decrease the risk of developing AIDS.
Mechanism of Action: Impedes virus replication.
Antiretroviral Drugs
