Unconscious
Here and Now, hearing, tasting, seeing; smallest part of mind
Conscious
Memory compartment, can be easily recalled
Preconscious
Conscience, not present at birth; develops through parental teaching or societal norms.
SUPEREGO
Always seeking pleasure, instant gratification; present at birth, instinctual drive
ID
The one who stands between the two self, personality; Reality, mature and adaptive behavior, balance.
EGO
A toddler cries loudly in a store because they want a candy bar immediately.
ID
A person hears a car honking while walking on the sidewalk and steps aside to avoid an accident.
Conscious
A teenager feels guilty about lying to their parents.
SUPEREGO
While discussing childhood holidays, a person suddenly remembers their favorite beach vacation and shares it with their friends.
Pre Conscious
A person avoids dogs without understanding why, only to later recall a traumatic childhood experience of being bitten by a dog.
Unconscious
A college student wants to party the night before an exam but decides to study instead, knowing it’s the more responsible choice.
