57
Q

Explain perichoresis, from God to us.

A

Perichoresis is derived from 2 Greeks words: “peri” and “choresis”. “Peri” means around, and “choresis” means to dance. Thus, together they mean to dance around. This applies to the Trinity then to us. As the Trinity, they (the 3 persons: Father, Son, and Spirit) dance around each other in a Holy Dance. We, in turn, exhibit this in everything we do. The Imago of the Trinity is always with us. In marriage, the husband and the wife are supposed to live with each other and complement each other just like the Trinity. The Trinity is also found in the church because brothers and sisters complement each other and word together.

58
Q

Describe the quote.

A

In parts of this quote, he is referring to perichoresis: that God and the universe go hand-in-hand. It glorifies Him by reflecting His Image which is why he created the universe. Therefore, he cannot leave the universe because He is everywhere in it, thus proving deism to be wrong. However, he is not talking about a form of pantheism where everything is God. God is only shown in creation and through creation.

59
Q

Show how Genesis 3:6 and 1 John 2:15-17 are related. How are these truths related to us today?

A

Genesis 3:6 talks about how mankind fell. Eve saw the fruit on the tree and wanted to attain wisdom after she was tempted by the serpent. 1 John speaks of the world producing the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life. These 2 passages are related because Eve saw the fruit was good for food (lust of the flesh), that it was pleasing to the eyes (lust of the eyes), and was able to make one wise (pride of life). These truths still apply today because the world has blinded us so that we cannot know spiritual things. Our winds are still broken, and we are dead in our trespasses without Christ!

60
Q

When mankind said “no” to God, what did we also say no to? How does this affect the natural condition of mankind?

A

When mankind said “no” to God, we wanted independence and our own knowledge. Because of this, we only got lies, saying “no” to truth. Now we know Sin and know about God (Romans 1:18-25). We received death, darkness, and despair when we should’ve been living in life, light, and happiness to which we also said “no”. Our minds are now broken, and we are dead spiritually until we have Christ because He sacrificed Himself for us.

61
Q

Using Genesis 2:18-25, explain how men and women are made to compliment one another.

A

Just before Eve (woman) was made, Adam was naming all the creatures which God had created. Man needed a helper in his life, so therefore, woman was made. They compliment each other because man is to be the leader and woman the helper. They were made to be in one flesh and faithful to one another. Man is also supposed to be strong and protecting while the woman is to be nurturing.
