there are 2 approaches to thematic analysis:
1. inductive - approaching data w no preconceptions abt which themes there might be
2. theoretical - approach data w some ideas abt themes which might emerge

• read through the data & decide on particular ‘themes’ which you will discuss in your write up
• the themes may be developed into broader categories
• on the write up the researcher quotes parts from the data when discussing the themes
• the themes are more descriptive than content analysis
  (data should be KEPT qualitative)
