Epidermis
The outer layer of the skin which is made up of stratified squamous epithelium
Dermis
The thickest layer of the skin that lies below the epidermis and above the subcutaneous layer.

the white area at the beginning of the nail bed which is the area which is most active for growth in the nail bed.

glands which produce sebum

an oily mix of fatty material and cellular debris which keeps skin soft and moist.
exocrine gland
glands which have a duct. carries the material being produced to the point where it is needed directly,
