The 4 stages of the menstruated cycle.
Stage 1 = Mensuration starts
Stage 2 = the uterus lining is repaired
Stage 3 = an egg develops and is released at ovulation
Stage 4 = the lining is then maintained.
What is FSH?
Released by the pituitary gland
Causes a follicle to mature in one of the ovaries
Stimulates oestrogen production
What is oestrogen?
Released by the ovaries causes the lining of the uterus to thicken
What is LH?
Released by the pituitary gland
Stimulates ovulation p, follicle ruptures and an egg is released
Stimulates the remains of the follicle to develop into a structure called s corpus luteum.
What is progesterone?
Released but the corpus luteum after ovulation.
Maintains the lining of the uterus, inhibits the release of FSH and LH.
Low level uterus lining breaks down
FSH increases …..repeat cycle
