What is the stomata?
A
They are tiny pores in the surface of the plant, this allows Co2 and O2 to diffuse directly in and out of the leaf.

What do guard cells do?
A
They control the change of shape and size of the pore (stomata).They also allow water vapour to escape easily during transpiration.

When does the stomata close?
A
In the dark, because photosynthesis can’t happen in the dark.

Why does a guard cell become turgid or flaccid?
A
Turgid = when there is too much water (OPEN) Flaccid = when there is not enough water (CLOSED)
