A
They are plant hormones that control growth at the tips of the shoots and the roots.
They move in solution
They are produced in the tips and diffuse backwards

Why do auxins diffuse backwards?
A
Because it helps to stimulate the cell elongation process which occurs in the cells just behind the tips

A
In the the growth response of plants to light (phototropism) and gravity (gravitropism)
