The Retrocession, along with Spain closing the Port of New Orleans to American , made Jefferson nervous. What did he do about it, and what was the result?
He sent James Monroe to France to purchase New Orleans and West Florida.
Napoleon, who was nervous because of a rebellion in Haiti plus renewed conflict with the British, signed over 800,000 sq miles to the US.
