Protection from unreasonable search and seizure
The Fifth amendment…
Provides due process and protection from double jeopardy
Right against self-incrimination
The Sixth amendment…
Right of the accused to a speedy public trial before an impartial jury.
The Seventh amendment…
Protects the right of the people to a civil trial by jury in accord with common law.
What is a civil trial?
Disagreements between people
What is a criminal trial?
Righting harm done to another. (Murder, theft, burglary, etc)
The EIghth amendment…
People protected against harsh and unusual punishment, and excessive fines and bail.
The Ninth amendment…
Preservation of Rights not mentioned
The Tenth Amendment…
Preservation of Rights of States and Individuals. (If a right is not given to the federal government, it is automatically reserved to the state or the individual respectively.)
